Step 1: Cut the Desk Top and Apron

Start by cutting the top of the desk. The dimensions are given as 1" x 24" x 60". Make sure the grain pattern is aligned for the best aesthetic. Attach aprons to the top, ensuring it overhangs 6" on the sides, 1" at the front, and 2" at the back.

Step 2: Assemble the Desk Frame

Next, cut out the pieces for the frame. This includes the side aprons, back apron, front frame rails, and the frame spacer blocks. Use dado joints to attach the pieces and make sure everything is square and aligned.

Step 3: Build and Install the Drawers

For the drawers, use the drawer bottom pieces (1/2" x 18 3/4" x 12 1/4") and build the sides to fit into the guides. Attach the drawer dividers and bottom, and ensure they slide smoothly along the rails and guides.

Step 4: Mount the Desk Legs

After the frame and drawers are assembled, attach the legs to the desk using stub aprons and tenon joints. Ensure the legs are stable and properly aligned to provide a solid foundation for the desk.

Step 5: Final Assembly and Finishing Touches

Once the frame, drawers, and legs are assembled, attach the desk top to the frame. Ensure there’s enough room for the wood to expand and contract. Sand the desk to smooth out rough edges, then finish with a protective wood stain or varnish.
